Former Detective, Jubelin, Guilty of Illegal Recording

Former Detective, Jubelin, Found Guilty in Illegal Recording in the William Tyrrell Case

Gary Jubelin, 57, former detective in New South Wales, Australia, had initially led the investigation of three year old William Tyrrell’s disappearance.  William Tyrrell was an Australian little boy, born on June 26, 2011 from Kendall, New South Wales, Australia.  Williams disappeared without a trace at the age of three on September 12, 2014.  He and his sister were playing outside of his foster grandmother’s home at the time of his disappearance.  He was wearing his Spiderman’s outfit.

On September 21, 2014, the police had completed their search for Tyrrell after going through the surrounding areas and neighborhood homes.  In 2015, the police had a lead and searched Bill Spedding, a washing machine repairman.  He was carrying out repairs during the time of the toddler’s disappearance. They tested Spedding’s computer, a mattress and vehicles.  They also drained his septic tank.  Williams’s foster and biological parents were investigated as well.

After several investigations, Homicide took over because it was very likely that Williams was abducted and may have been a victim of a pedophile ring.  One million dollars have been awarded to anyone that has information about Tyrrell Williams.

On February 21, 2020, the Daily Mail had unveiled that pedophile Frank Abbot was arrested and is now in custody for questioning about William’s disappearance.  In March, 2020, two days were left for the inquest to Tyrrell Williams’s investigation but was brought to a halt due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Former Detective Gary Jubelin had recorded a person of interest, Paul Savage, an elderly man who lived next door to the three-year old’s grandmother.  Jubelin had recorded Savage once in 2017 over the phone and in person three times in 2018.  However, the surveillance warrants were being discussed at the time of investigation, but Jubelin decided to take matters into his own hands, so he used a mobile telephone to illegally record conversations with Savage without a warrant.

Magistrate Ross Hudson, one of the highest ranking government officers, highly criticized Jubelin for being so over focused on Mr. Savage and found that his conduct in the matter was unlawful; he should have handled the situation differently.  Jubelin stated to Hudson, that he recorded Savage to protect himself from any false allegations due to the fact that Savage is very volatile.

On April 6, 2020, Magistrate Ross Hudson handed down his ruling and Jubelin was charged on four counts of breaching the Surveillance Devices Act and found guilty of illegally recording during an investigation.

Jubelin sincerely has denied the allegations.  He was released from the case and quit his 34 year career on the force.  He indicated that he was proud of the way he had conducted himself and the investigation despite of being humiliated publically and being charged for a crime by an institution he worked for.  He says the police want people to think that he is a rogue cop that has gone bad.  Jubelin says he lost his career, his valued reputation and friends over the allegations.

Jubelin is still in distressed over William’s peculiar disappearance and that it is still unsolved upsets him more than anything. He anticipates on writing an autobiography about his life and career, to let the public get a clear view and understanding the role and the life of being a true detective.
